According to the Qur’an and Sunnah, Muslims around the world follow the following principles while performing Qurbani:
Sacrifice is obligatory upon every sane and mature Muslim man and woman. The principles of choosing the animal to be sacrificed and the days of sacrifice include that the animal must be free from any kind of defect, healthy and be sacrificed after the Eid prayer on the day of Eid-ul-Adha, and that it should be Shariah-compliant during the sacrifice. The rules should be followed and after the sacrifice, the meat should be cut keeping in mind the rules of hygiene in the preparation of the meat, divided into three parts, one part for oneself, the other part for relatives and loved ones while the third part should be made into packets and distributed among the deserving and needy people.
